Get a kicker that can kick FG's Get a kicker that can kick off. And, get players that can tackle. Coach Walsh has so far of'fered a lot of lip service to the public. OK, this is your first year, but, what I don't see is improvement. And, that is what is very troubling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GoPOLY!!!

Posts: 1662 11/07/09 5:13 PM	I hope the spirit of the black knights hasn't followed Tim Walsh to Poly! I've cannot understand this coaching staff. We are getting beat week after week by teams that pass off the shot-gun. Teams that have very good passing QB's. Tony Smith, to my knowledge, has not taken a direct snap from center to throw the ball and he is not a good passing QB! This is a no brain er! Forget the TO, on a 3rd and 5+ yards when you need to pass, use the shot-gun,... every team is doing it except Poly. OUT!!!

Giving your opponent great field position and not figuring out how to stop gimmicky formations is the problem. Christ, Smith actually passed well in this game; "going to the shotgun" wouldn't have made a difference.

Posts: 1663 11/07/09 5:36 PM	I did not look at the stats, yet. But, I call your attention to the last 3-4 plays of the game. By not using the shotgun, Smith needed to roll out and throw on the run,...making all those throws much more difficult. Poly needed 4 yds on a 4th down and it should have been a pass/catch,...pretty simple play. It's not rocket science. And, if you know anything and have watched college football,...most teams can get it done. And, they do it from a shotgun formation. Instead, Smith is running to find time to throw and a reasonably easy throw becomes a lot harder. Don't question my posts,...you would be further ahead if you would try and learn from them!!!!! GoPOLY!!!

Posts: 1031 11/07/09 5:43 PM	By the last 4 plays of the game, the game was over. Would having a shotgun formation help Poly pass the ball better down 13 with 2 minutes left? Maybe. But I don't think it really mattered at that point.

Posts: 14 11/08/09 4:42 AM	definitely need a quarter back. but honestly i feel like the younger quarterbacks will be fine. duke delancelotti (sp?) throws the ball very well, how he runs the option is yet to be seen. as for needing a kicker to kick field goals, if we really look at it, pinto hasn't done all that bad. although todays miss against davis was a complete joke...27 yards, really now? but other then that i believe every other miss has been blocked or tipped. i really feel like its an upgrade from last year. What about the recieving core? i mean DJ is good, and has great hands...but where are we in depth after him....?

Posts: 774 11/08/09 10:56 AM	depth isn't a concern IMO... Gardley has come on as of late catching passes, I think Houston is very capable, Mike Anderson is also capable. The problem, however, was the fact that Tony Smith can't get the ball to them. Watching Tony Smith throw the ball is painful. It looks like he is putting ALL of his effort into throwing a 10 yard pass and it falls short. He also either throws the ball to far in front of or behind his receivers, where its nearly impossible to make a catch. It all boils down to getting a guy in there who can throw a 25 yard pass with minimal effort and frankly, thats not Tony Smith * remember, my opinions are my own, and thats what they are OPINIONS *
