Posts: 1654 11/03/09 10:02 AM	Tags : None ...with the "O" line? Today is Tuesday, maybe a little too early to know who will start on the "O" line this Saturday. If, we can point to one area that hurt last Saturday at Grand Forks,...the "O" line---full of freshmen & sophomores. GoPOLY!!! PS. I still think it was the 'astro-turf'.

Posts: 13 11/03/09 5:48 PM	the "O" and "D" line will be a little better this week. Will mitchell says he will start on saturday but didnt practice today, and james chen also said he will play saturday (torn groin), but again didn't practice today either. i still think poly loses this game.

Posts: 403 11/04/09 2:10 AM	As far as I can see Cal Poly really has only two things left to play for this season -- The Golden Horseshoe and Pride. Hopefully the come out and play with some pride this weekend and take home about the only prize left this season -- The Golden Horseshoe. Rivalry week should bring out the whatever best there is in both teams. This should be a good game. I pick Cal Poly this week in what overall has been somewhat of a disappointing season...

They also can still win the Great West. Each team in the GW has at least one loss in conference, South Dakota has two. Beat Davis and South Dakota and we have at least a share of the Great West Championship with a 3-1 record.

Posts: 1655 11/04/09 9:57 AM	That's good to hear,...hope both can play close to their potential. This game is not going to be easy based on the type of game the aggie's play. It looks to be pretty wide open. And, Poly has had its problems defending a passing style offense. Instead, they have used a keep away offense or ball possession to limit the touches of their opponent. Actually, last week's game was the first time since the Sac game that Poly threw some passes at key moments and for scores. I look for the same game plan this Saturday. Davis will bring 7-8 guys into the box (similar to UND) and dare Poly to throw. TS needs a big day passing. If, he can complete some 15-20 yd passes early in the game it will open up the TO. Otherwise, it will be a long day and one not very enjoyable for Cal Poly fans. Once again we need to mix in some bubble and sideline screens and some over the middle stuff to slow the defensive rush. Posts: 1008 11/04/09 10:29 AM	It's not the passing. In each Poly loss, they've given up over 150 yards rushing. In each Poly win, they've held the opposition to under 150 yards rushing. While Poly does give up some big pass plays (7 yards per attempt), they pick off a bunch of passes and have thus far limited opponents to a 55% completion rate. So if they can't run, they might hit a couple of 20 yard passes, but the drive ends on incompletions or an interception. When Poly starts to have trouble is when opponents can keep drives alive with runs. Earlier in the season, I would have said that this made UC Davis an ideal opponent, as they had literally no running game. However, thanks to some newcomers, it seems the Aggies have started to figure things out on the ground -- they ran all over SUU last weekend.

Posts: 1656 11/04/09 12:12 PM	Granted! However, I still feel Poly will have better success stopping the run v. the pass. Shotwell & Co. need to make a living in their backfield. If you give the Aggie's the time to throw the way we gave UND, last week, they'll have a field day. Some famous coach said it, "There is no substitution for a good pass rush". GoPOLY!!!
