Posts: 741 07/10/09 10:38 AM	Tags : None The CSU system has stopped accepting applications for Winter and Spring quarter. http://www.ksby.com/global/Story.asp?s=10673443 Granted, students added at those times make up a small segment of the overall population, but less enrollment (even if its only 100 students) means less fees, which equals less money for the AD.

Posts: 642 07/10/09 10:45 AM	sorry musty... old news, they were already going to enroll less students in the fall anyways might be good for JCs however... it will keep kids there longer, so less students taking GEs when they hit the CSU/UC system, thus making it easier for kids to get in and out... thankfully the new licensing agreement will add money to the athletic department... and Callero taking on Wisconsin and Stanford will help offset the basketball budget, and football playing SJSU and Ohio etc... add in possilbe furloughs for state employees and what not * remember, my opinions are my own, and thats what they are OPINIONS *

Posts: 32 07/10/09 12:07 PM	Cal Poly already only excepts students during fall quarter, so this doesn't really apply to us. There started to be a flood of students coming in(especially summer) and thats how they stopped it. Like 805 said the the school is trying to shrink anyways, even before the economy tanked. The good news, if you can call it good, is that the acceptance rate here is dropping. something like 45% last time I heard. Thats lower than every UC except Cal and UCLA (I think). That seems like good news to me for the popularity and prestige of the school. Budget wise, maybe not so much. Edit: I actually just looked around and wikipedia has our 2009 acceptance rate at 36%, and CSU mentor has it at 34%, even lower. Posts: 742 07/10/09 12:17 PM	Hmm, I did not realize that about the summer admissions...I knew a few people who "backdoored" their way in by using that. It is kind of a weird juxtaposition when it comes to acceptance rates -- on one hand, it's looks good for the university to be highly selective. However, like you pointed out, the more accepted students, the more money that goes to the AD. 805, you bring up a good point about the furloughs...I wonder how that's affecting the AD? I would assume that coaches aren't affected, but the staff probably has to take 'em.
