Several schools released their baseball schedules this week. Here is what things look like for Cal Poly so far.
2/19-21 - USC (season opener) 2/23 - at P'dine 3/25-27 - at UCLA 4/23-25 - at Fullerton 4/30-5/2 - Long Beach 5/18 - P'dine |

Judging by the five schedules I've seen (CP popped up on all five, LOL), that might not be happening or if it does it will be
only one series max. Even schools like Fullerton and Long Beach have cut way back on the plane travel. All five western teams have only one non-conf
series/tournament where they are hopping on a plane and three of those (Fullerton, Long Beach, USC) are against other western teams. Everything else is either
at home or a bus ride away.

Cal Poly only had 1 fly away series (u. Houston),...all other away games were in-state!
And, Houston should be coming to Baggett this season. GoPOLY!!! |

Cal visits Cal Poly 3/19-21.
Pacific visits Cal Poly 5/21-23 (Memorial Day weekend - next to last weekend of the regular season). |

fairly solid schedule
Pepperdine, ASU, Oregon St, will add to the already solid RPI that the BW can provide hopefully our pitching will be in the low 4's better yet the low 3's this year so we can compete in conference

It's actually a very good schedule except, for RPI purposes, only having four games against non-western opponents (six if you
count Northern Illinois, which is better than playing an Ivy League team I guess). But, most western teams are having the same problem because of limited
travel due to the economy. Three series with CA Pac 10 teams, 2 games against ASU/OSU, series with C-USA team that is usually in a regional, series with a
solid WCC team. The only bad series is the final one with Bakersfield but who are you going to find to play on the last weekend of the season? Might as well
play somebody local.
Definitely a better non-conf schedule than Irvine - LMU (H/A/H), Coastal Carolina tourn (2 games with CC, 1 with NC State and James Madison), St. Mary's, at Sac State, Gonzaga, at Nevada, Bakersfield during the conf bye. The usual assortment of local teams (USC, UCLA, USD, SD State) for midweek games.

don't know if not playing Bakersfield would be better,......RPI will definitely not be helped even with a sweep!
Thinking maybe a non-conference series with UCSB or even Pacific or even CSUN> OUT!!! |

That mini tournament in Surprise, Ariz should be fun.
Playing at a new 10,000 seat stadium-----training Hq's for Texas & KC pro teams. (Not the place to go in June, however,-temp's over 100) GoPOLY!!! |

The Bakersfield series is the last weekend of the season. Cal Poly wouldn't be able to find anybody to play that weekend
except for an independent (Bakersfield and Utah Valley are the only western ones). Cal Poly is going to play Bakersfield during the season anyways due to
geography (closest team not in the Big West). It was either 1) play Bakersfield that weekend, 2) play them in midweek games (do you like five game weeks?
coaches don't) to get to 56 games on the schedule or 3) lose the chance to play a series against a good team to play Bakersfield in a series earlier in the
year.
Bakersfield released their schedule today and they have series with six of the Big West teams, all during bye weeks in the conf schedule. Only Fullerton, Long Beach and UCSB don't play series with them (UCSB has two midweek games scheduled with them). They also have weekend series with TCU, Arizona, WSU, Nevada and San Jose.

You would have to assume that CSUB will also be at least a little better with one year under their belt. I don't think they'll help the RPI that much,
but hopefully they'll win enough games not to hurt.
