In the 12 minutes Jordan Lewis was on the court, Poly outscored the Waves 27-13. In the 28 minutes without Jordan Lewis, it was 64-56 Pepperdine. Now, I like Jordan Lewis as much as anybody...but I don't think he had Dave Douglas - video...

President Baker to Retire...

President Baker has announced his intentions to retire from Cal Poly's President. This can only mean good things for Cal Poly sports as hopefully the new president will be more welcoming in terms of donations towards the sports program. Here is the letter Baker sent to Cal Poly students this morning:

has stepped up its level of comp.
tonite LBS v. Texas,....
last nite CSUN played the dogs from Seattle,...played them very tough!
Poly will soon play the badgers, our new found rivals from the Midwest or East.

This conference many not be racking up the OOC "w's" (unfortunate), but,
at least it is getting the conference's name spread around.
(May come in handy someday)...

It will be interesting to see if Callero starts Brown or sticks with Odister. Anderson's box line wasn't much (7 min, 1 A, 2 TO, 2PF); he might have just been at the right place in the right time.

Poly should get a second win.
But, not with 26 TO's.

The crowd hopefully will blossom to 2400-2500. Callero, I know, has promised
to become a grassroots coach and get all downtown store owners to start
buying up all the extra tickets. And, use them in a give away campaign with the sale
of merchandise.

Poly is still making too many mental errors, but, they are an exciting team to watch!

Yeah, Callero playing his old team is a nice storyline and all. But...as 805 and others have pointed out, SU has an absolute beast playing for them by the name of Charles Garcia. The 6'10" Garcia is averaging just about 22 a game and has already scored 41 in a game this year. Interesting story too...he's not exactly a Rhodes scholar: he signed with Sac State out of Dorsey HS, didn't qualify and took a Prop 48 grayshirt, still couldn't make grades, went to Riverside JC and...

Poly is averaging approx. 65% in 5 games at the free throw line.
Not good!!!!
Poly needs to be in the high 80's, just to stay in games.

Joe needs to step it up. Guys missing FT need to get penalized, run laps or something.
Players need to take pride in making every FT.

Ask the WOZ,...it use to be a pride thing!

The plus-minus for this game tells a similar story to the box score: Donahue and Hanson did fairly well; Shawn Lewis and Will Taylor played poorly. I'm not sure what our "best 5" is right now, but I'm pretty sure it includes Odister, Jordan Lewis and Donahue, and absolutely does not include Justin Brown or Will Taylor.
